Hello, and welcome to my page!

I am Jan, a physicist who spent his scientific life trying to resolve the mysteries of rubber.
At a first glance, rubber seems black and boring, and to be the same material ever since.
After looking deeper into the material, I realized that many key aspects are all but understood.
And this is what I intend to do: Trying to figure out the reasons for rubbers’ toughness.

I spent 6 years in the Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie e.V. (DIK).
Now I am affiliated at the theoretical physical chemistry workgroup (U. Wuppertal) of Prof. R. Hentschke.

My research interests are filler reinforcement, polymer-filler compatibility, strain crystallization and general rubber technology.
